Landlords right now have the power to displace our lives. We need pass SB 257 to end “no-fault” evictions in CT. Even tenants who pay their rent on time, are good neighbors, and do everything "right," can be forced out when their lease is up. Many of these evictions are driven by profiteering investors seeking to dramatically raise rents, by discrimination, or by retaliation against tenants that draw attention to unsafe conditions in their homes. Evictions devastate and destabilize our communities, and their negative impacts fall hardest on working-class, Black, and immigrant tenants. Just Cause Eviction Protection is a tool CT must implement to stop the destructive impact of no-fault evictions. We know there is widespread public support for this no-cost, common sense law. To get this bill passed, we need leadership to call it for a vote!
